Good choice. Sort of a new guy, but the one that's been around in one way or another for a long time while not being somebody from Ashes/Puscifer again.

Surely they'll play The Nurse Who Loved Me while he's on stage, right?

Greg: "Oh man, it's so great to be here. Playing some new tunes and taking a little break from the Failure sets for a minute would be hella refreshing. So what's the first rehearsal gonna be??"

    Maynard: "...........well...."

I need to re-review the new material that's been released... Last time I checked, I didn't actually like any of it (for one reason or another). I feel like I'll be lucky if just one song off the record is up my alley.

I actually did exactly that this week and I did enjoy these new songs a lot more, I suspect it will all sound much better when the record drops

Fuck it, I’m not going to listen to anymore of it until the album comes out. That’ll give me a break from it and can judge it better.

My interest in APC has been renewed with this news. Greg Edwards is an all time favorite of mine. Always thought he would fit well in the danny/joerdie/JMJ/Eustis roll for live nin, being that switching between guitar/bass/keys is his forte. Fuck now I need to see this...

They did with Ken Andrews back in 2004?

Yeah a few times I think. Touring with Year of the Rabbit right?

I’m so excited for this album. It sounds like it’s going to be indulgent and raw and I’m all for that. I don’t expect it to be wildly popular. I think it’s going to be a bit of a brooding piece of artwork that’s a little meditative and focused internally.

This perfectly explains one of the main reasons I love Puscifer live but have grown uninterested in seeing Tool in an arena. Maynard is still an amazing singer, but I enjoy his actual singing on Puscifer tracks way more than his yelling over Tool songs. Maybe it's just an artifact of growing older, but I'm less and less into hearing someone shouting at live shows and more and more interested in hearing someone who has a damn good voice put it to use.

I was actually really underwhelmed by Maynard’s voice and stage interaction when I saw Puscifer here in Milwaukee a couple years back. The wrestling story back drop was “odd” (to be kind) as well.

Maynards vocals seem to work best live with APC in recent years. Tool is still a damn great experience, regardless if his voice isn’t what it used to be.

And I love that “Bam Bam the drummer” quote, lol. As great as Danny is on the drums there’s other metal drummers that fit that description better. DC makes those beats look “easy”- pretty remarkable. I know that quote was in gest and funny at the same time so not hating.

Actually Josh Freese has that crazy arms flailing thing going on during certain songs.

My buddies vinyl subscription box have worked together with the band to put together a package for this album:

-> The brand new 2LP album on 180gm, 12" vinyl

-> A one-off edition of the Stylus magazine, featuring an in-depth interview with the band's singer, Maynard James Keenan

-> And an exclusive 12" x 12" print of the amazing artwork featured above (frame not included)

Something I don't understand is: Why wouldn't they just hire one of the artists that did their awesome gig posters over the past tour last year? Most of those posters are cooler than the album cover. Especially the St. Paul poster and the Nashville poster by Carin Hazmat.

I subscribed to Revolver Magazine for the Mastodon "Toe To Toes" 7" vinyl that came with the sub last year. Look what's on the latest issue:
