Please, let's lump everyone in the same category that thinks the new A Perfect Circle album is lackluster. We're close-minded, entitled, and want a rehash of an old album.

DLB, I figured everyone knew but me.
I also wondered if it had anything to do with David Bowie.

Funny, I was going to make a joke last night about it being a sequel to Renholder and that it stands for Danny Lohner... something (but I couldn't think of something funny)

Like all those horrible elitist NIN fans who are down on Slip/HM era NIN. They are living in a bubble and wish it was 1994 again. How dare they criticize anything TR does..Or they will be cast aside as the scourge of the NIN online fan community....errr speaking from experience lol

Now that I think about, APC has never had a cool album cover, so why is this one so startling to me and everyone else? They are the kings of what looks like fan made album covers.

the cover for mer de noms is pretty cool. it's enigmatic and simple.

past that, i agree with you.

I think the Mer de Noms cover is nice. Thirteenth Step isn't great, not terrible. But Eat The Elephant is fucking atrocious. Seriously, it comes off as a sad desperate attempt to catch the eye of the tween Hot Topic crowd. Then again, after trying to listen to this album multiple time, this album is just as bad as its cover art

It's not bad I agree and the best of the bunch, but if I saw it among a group of other albums, it wouldnt pull me in. I would've rather they used the circle band picture.

It's a better representation of what lies within, a mix of people from different backgrounds and is unique looking and balanced, etc. Just the most interesting picture in the whole package of I had to choose one. Better than the lord of the rings made up script.

But the ultimate would've been just the logo, no words, only 2 colors, one for logo one for background. I'd say black background and orange logo, to stick to the already accepted motif.

This made me laugh because I just instantly thought about how it's a band made up entirely of white dudes who just got rid of their token minority.

Got rid of? I thought James just moved on to Smashing Pumpkins for reasons

Yeah James will be back, but I decided to dress up the truth a little for the sake of the joke. #worthit

Hah! I was thinking about the same thing the other day. Never liked any of their album art.

Si, señor Amaro. Never cared for Maynard’s damn “yodeling” in that song, irritates me for whatever reason. It is pretty cool once it gets heavy though.

And +1 for a Mer de Noms being an awesome cover.

13th Step has always been my favorite album by A Perfect Circle, because I think it carries a lot of depth that gets passed over by people who wanted another Mer de Noms. To me, APC isn't about being heavy, it's about depth both musically and lyrically, and 13th Step was a logical step for the overall sound. Eat The Elephant is horrendously shallow and self-serving by comparison.

Yeah, what’s this sudden hate for 13th Step? Personally think it’s a better album from start to finish than Mer de Noms.

MDN high points are better than 13th Step’s high points IMHO, however.

I vote Thirteenth Step as well. Back when they toured and were playing the three albums in their entirety (I think 2010?) I went for the Thirteenth Step night. Looking back on it I wish I had gone to all of them but I really only do ridiculous things like that for nin...

The album cover for 'eat the elephant' looks like something Korn or Orgy would have used back in 1998

No, it looks like a shitty rip off of Manson’s Mechanical Albums era.

This has has already been covered in the thread BTW. :P

To be honest, I always thought the covers for both A Perfect Circle and Puscifer (with the possible exception of Mer De Noms) were meant to be very tongue-in-cheek. Let's not forget that both bands feature Maynard wearing wigs.

Nobody tell this guy that Maynard also wears a wig with Tool.

The 13th Step hate isn't new. I distinctly remember the album getting widely shat on upon release because it wasn't MDN 2.
