Waiting to see if I get accepted for Lollapalooza Press Passes, and if not then I'll definitely be going. Completely surprised that 96.5 The Buzz FINALLY has a lineup that isn't the same typical shitty bands (311, Flogging Molly, Sublime, etc) that they repeatedly book at every single of of their shows.

First album review is up on antiquiet. I think historically they get real excited about new releases like most of us and tend to give the overly favorable reviews more often than not, but regardless I still got a gut feeling this record is gonna be homme's masterpiece and june 4th can't come soon enough:

I'm inclined to agree about reviewers doing that but this album should be good. Every album has been consistently good and yes I love Era Vulgaris when so many thought it was crap.

Same mostly, but still decent and good QOTSA.

Also it should be mentioned that video only shows half of the song. Wikipedia, iTunes, etc. all list the song as being 6 minutes long. According to someone who has heard the album that drum section goes on a little longer, then goes into another chorus, then a guitar solo.

I Appear Missing sounds great, it has weird hook to it, it's really sinking in as I listen to it again and again.

Ugh, I hate when bands do that. I get the appeal of not "spoiling" the album but c'mon.

i think it's more that making an animated video is a labor-intensive process, and there's a clear story arc...maybe it didn't work expanding it out to 6 minutes?

Re: QOTSA - New album due out in June

Supposedly boneface is going to do a few more animations for clips of songs and a full one for my god is the sun. I don't mind because then we get to hear a bunch of the album without spoiling the whole thing.

I could punch myself for having met Alfredo Hernandez yesteday and not asking him anything about QOTSA or the new record. Damn!

I'm sure he'd have been overjoyed to talk about that band he was only briefly in all of fifteen years ago.

Saying Alfredo was in the band 'briefly' is a bit harsh, imo. He played on the album and drummed on tour for almost two years, I'd say that's pretty solid contribution.

    Re: antiquiet review

…Like Clockwork is a trip of honest fragility bleeding through deeply layered textures and harmonies, a pendular swing volleying between forlorn vulnerability and fire-christened renewal.

What the fuck am I supposed to get from this description? This kind of literary masturbation is why I try to avoid music reviews at all costs.
