    All things Industrial and EBM

There are sooo many awesome Industrial and EBM acts out there worth discussing, I just don't feel alot of them can warrant having their own threads.
I've tried creating threads for some of the more "obscure" acts in this category, but they never catch on, so why not create a place where we can discuss all bands of this nature together.

    I'll start off...

Covenant is an EBM band based out fo Sweden, they have a pretty big following, i'm sure most people here have heard of them.
They're hitting up North America next month (August 2012) and here are the dates.

Anyone hitting up any of the shows? I have a trip to New York planned at the end of August and I'll be catching them live there! Pretty stoked, got my tickets already. Been looking forward to seeing these guys live for a while.

I tried making a thread like this but it got no response: http://www.echoingthesound.org/commu...-EBM-aggrotech
    Hopefully this one fares better.

    I am currently digging Nachtmahr:

Also, going to see Combichrist next week and I am stoked.

I could never get into combichrist. I saw them open for Rammstein twice, but they just never stuck with me. Prior to seeing them live, the only thing I knew about them was that ridiculious club song "this shit will fuck you up" and after hearing that song, It left a sour taste in my mouth for this band. I'll admit, their other stuff was better live, but not enough to get into them.

I feel as a rule the genre works much better on record than in a live setting.

Grendel are another favourite of mine:

If it helps, the most recent album is pretty well done. I never could fully get into Andy's work, but after hearing "Today We Are All Demons," I hopped on board because it sounded like Andy was taking the project a little more seriously. The early work is definitely "meh," but check out the aforementioned album and the newest one "Making Monsters." I definitely recommend the latter of the two.

I love all kinds of industrial/EBM.

-Old school Industrial (Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Coil, Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach)

-Post-Industrial (Skinny Puppy, old KMFDM, Cabaret Voltaire, cEvin Key, Converter, Cyberaktif, Doubting Thomas, Download)

    -EBM
(Front 242, Ministry's "Twitch," Nitzer Ebb)

-Electro-Industrial (:wumpscut:, Dead When I Found Her, Front Line Assembly, Haujobb, Mentallo & the Fixer, Necro Facility, Noise Unit, Numb, ohGr, Velvet Acid Christ, X-Marks the Pedwalk)

-Aggrotech/Dark Electro (Allied Vision, Amduscia, C-Lekktor, Dawn of Ashes, Detroit Diesel, Die Sektor, Distorted Memory, DYM, God Module, Grendel, Hocico, Lexincrypt, Life Cried, Panzer AG, Psyclon Nine, Suicide Commando, Tactical Sekt, Unter Null, X-Fusion, yelworC)

And of course stuff that's considered Industrial rock or metal. (Ministry, KMFDM, Skold vs. KMFDM, Chemlab, Gary Numan, Gravity Kills, PIG)

OH. I'm going to Resistanz next year. I should probably start looking up acts that aren't Surgyn.

i also tried making one of these threads, too:
    http://www.echoingthesound.org/commu...light=new+beat

to recap, on the more bonafide ebm front:

    (insanely pioneering)

i cannot stand the majority of what passes for industrial/ebm these days. all those digital, overblown, futuretechno synth tracks. movement pretty much died for me in the early 90s.

Really only into "old school" industrial myself (Throbbing Gristle, Neubauten, SPK, Cabaret Voltaire, Nurse With Wound, Z'ev, Clock DVA, NON, Test Dept, Controlled Bleeding, Nocturnal Emissions, Esplendor Geometrico etc...)

I can deal with some older EBM too (early stuff from Front 242, Front Line Assembly and Ministry) but largely I'd count myself as indifferent.

Anyone who can should definitely go to a My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult show if not only to see them but to also see the opening band Left Spine Down, they are VERY worth while and i think definitely would appeal to a NIN fan.

I've seen Left Spine Down live 5 or 6 times now and own pretty much all their material, definitely a pretty big fan of them. Met them all too, very cool dudes.

This is one of my favorite songs off their new record and i think it's also a very accessible track of theirs.

Also i shot a live video while i was at one of their shows of this very song.

Sound isn't the greatest but listen to the studio recording first and then you'll hear the song better when you check out the live vid which i think the footage turned out rather decently, not HD or anything but still good in my biased opinion lol

I saw Aesthetic Perfection as well, just last June. It was a pretty fun night of dancing!

Little did I know, they opened up for Imperative Reaction as well 4 years ago when I last saw them. I just had no idea who they were and wasn't relly impressed with their set. They must have evolved quite well as a band since then, as their new album "All Beauty Destroyed" is actually a really great record.

Deconbrio brings Nine Inch Nails-inspired industrial sounds to Walloween

Trent Reznor may be busy remaking Led Zeppelin songs these days, but that doesn’t mean the industrial brand of metal he pioneered with Nine Inch Nails is considered passé.
Not locally, at least. Thanks to Danny Rendo and his band, Deconbrio, industrial is alive and well and headed to this weekend’s Walloween festival at The Thirsty Turtle Pub in Maryville. On a path that took him from Florida to the West Coast to East Tennessee, Rendo has taken inspiration from Reznor’s music and turned it into his own project.

This stuff isn't half bad... you can stream their albums here:

Oh, did you attend Terminus? I was actually following the festivals posts on facebook. I wanted to go since it was announced, but it wasn't in my 2013 trip budget. Originally was supposed to attend a wedding that weekend in Winnipeg, but couldn't make it, Terminus was a great alternative choice for that weekend, but it wasn't feasible.

Maybe next year, the lineup looked pretty kickass.

If anyone is going to be in the NYC area this September 5-7, you should look into going to the Triton Festival. Another kick ass industrial festival. Very choked I can't make it to this either:

    http://tritonfestival.com/index.php

The sad thing is, I found out about Triton after the 2011 festival, and it looked amazing. I actually had a trip to NYC planned for September 2012 and I was watching the Triton festival site like a hawk for an announcement for the 2012 festival, but it never happened... Now I was especially upset when earlier this year out of the blue they were like "hey guys, we're back for 2013!" Really? Couldn't have returned for 2012 when I was actually in NYC, haha...

I couldn't go unfortunately because i spent too much at our comic expo and the last bit of actual $$$ that i then had available went to NIN tickets.

Such a fucking bummer, I've been hooting and hollering for a local festival of this musical magnitude and i couldn't even go.

3rd time's the charm perhaps. Terminus 2014 was just officially announced so i definitely hope to go, hopefully they have as epic of a lineup too.

I really liked (and still do) Icon of Coil. Combichrist was really awesome but... not digging it lately. Would love some Icon of Coil. The guy is underrated!

Covenant is awesome. Call the ships to port and We want revolution are wicked and I still listen to the tracks today!!

2004-2008 I was HEAVY into "industrial/EBM" ; frequented a night club with an excellent DJ and friendly crowd.
