Death Grips - "The Money Store"

It's not punk. It's not rap. It's not industrial. It's not pop.

It's like being repeatedly shot into the future, punched in the face, fired back again and given a high five, all while wearing glitter and barbed wire glasses.

If you've heard the tracks pushed out before it's release then you have to hear the rest - the run of "Double Helix", "System Blower" and "The Cage" is just insane.

Album of the year for me so far for many reasons - especially due to the utter ballsy bravado of dropping this as the first of two full albums in 2012 and getting a major to fund it.

This song is a lot deeper than I'd probably ever give it credit for previously.

I'm listening to Does It Offend You, Yeah?

Today, exactly one year after they announced that they were going to be announcing North America tour dates "imminently," that they're on hiatus until further notice. Fuck. I was sooo looking forward to seeing them again (as you can probably tell by me knowing the date that they were announcing dates), and after waiting through a year of them saying "Yeah, we're working on this new material and these new designer shoes" and "Hey, we're playing 400 more shows in Australia," they're taking a hiatus to do other things.

I'm sure they've got their reasons. But...blah. I'm just a butthurt fan about it.

Desolate - Celestial Light Beings (sounds a lot like Burial, very meditative)

Lone - Galaxy Garden (electronic, psychedelic)

RL Grime - Grapes (electronic, bass)

    Biblo - Projections

Experimental ambient/electronic from Turkey. Sounds like an eerie mix of Burial and Grouper. Very similar to her sister's work as Ekin Fil.

If Boards of Canada were a (really good) metal band and had a singer......euphoric, hard, beautiful, soothing, metal. Sounds emanating from that mass of contradictions.
I wish more heavy bands would do this today ....drop the pantomime devil menace and loose the stupid vocals..... just let the music do the talking. This is real metal. Love the genre. When it goes to different places. It has a lot of possibilities.

So, based on this recommendation I downloaded that album... and I tried, but I'm not liking it. I'll give another shot later, but it just seems sloppily produced, and the vocal approach really bothers me. Everything about it was just immediately offputting to me.

Can't wait for the new Garbage album to drop! <3

Listening to a Swedish duo, I Break Horses, which opened for M83. Feels like I'm listening to them for the first time because their sound was mixed horribly at the Lawrence show. Not quite as shoe-gazey on album.

I haven't made up my mind completely yet, but I'd say I like it a lot more than a lot of the critics do at this point. It's much more pleasant and accessible than I expected, but that's not necessarily a bad thing at all.

After waiting 3 months, I can gladly say that I am now listening to these:
