That was Reading Festival. August 25 2013. Reflecting In the Chrome has it.

Side note: that performance of The Warning is hilarious.

    "Fuck rock'n'roll by the way!"

That whole show was pretty angry and unique. Last song Wish, no Hurt, crazy stuff.

Some of those festival shows felt surprisingly dangerous*. His intro at Lowlands was brilliant. "You're ready to have a good time? Those were the last guys. Wrong fucking band. We're here to have a bad time." I knew Trent hated European festivals, but he sure didn't mince words this time around.

    * or grumpy, depending on your disposition.

Anyone have any idea what (soft)synth generates the TDTWWA drone?

I'm wondering if it's a patch with some element of randomization (the filter, probably) that was never committed to a dedicated audio recording in the session. The drone isn't ever the exact same in any given TDTWWA version on any album; the band even used a very obvious loop of it on tour rather than generating it live (for Fragility, at least), indicating some level of inability or desire not to replicate it like it was done for the record.

i always thought it was a guitar drone loop (i do a lot of those in my theatre scores by setting a LONG delay time and basically infinite feedback, playing a chord with the volume on my guitar all the way down, and gradually raising it until it makes a nice texture; i then layer chords until i have the desired drone)

TR did say most of the textures on TF are guitar, even some that sound like synths. I suppose anything that can be continuous might be the source sound.

Also, rather than the filter, I think it may be a super detuney chorus effect that is set on some kind of a randomized LFO. The drone seems to slowly 'wobble' in and out of tune with the key of the song. It's especially apparent in the Quiet mix. And there seem to be several stacked up together for the album version, but the Quiet and Still versions just use one.

There are two ways you can access it. First, you can add the following to your hosts file:

    Code:
    192.185.5.148 seven1963.org
    192.185.5.148 www.seven1963.org
Then, it will work by simply putting www.seven1963.org into your browser. All the file downloads are hosted on a MediaFire account which, to date, is still paid for and working.

The other alternative is to simply use an archive.org copy of the page. When you click on a download link, you'll have to manually copy the MediaFire URL and paste it into your browser.

    http://web.archive.org/web/201605100...seven1963.org/

Anyone interested in downloading something from there should do so ASAP, since we don't know how long the MediaFire account will continue to be paid for.

    You're a lifesaver.
Maybe someone would like to backup these files if ever the case the account does go down.

Was it ever truly revealed why Adrian Belew decided to leave the NIN band before the tour, during which he was slated to be a member, started?

    That is just great. Thanks.
I guess @ninlive collected the videos for the "video nin drive project" ? (or I only dreamt about it)

I've got them all, and reconciled them with my own collection, and I'll work with ninlive to assemble the best and most complete video collection.

I have been collecting. But it's a huge project for just one person and I have been pretty busy as of late with work and school. I haven't really put a lot of work into it since the summer.

Thanks @TheBang we will talk soon!

Don't worry there is no pressure whatsoever... And I am quite sure that a lot of people here (me first) would be super involved in such a project. Depending on what each one could do...

A couple of weeks ago I saw this hilarious video on Youtube of Trent ranting before a Euro show, saying how the promoter lied and mid-way through the interview he just said "F#ck it" and walked away. It might honestly be the funniest video I've seen of Trent and I was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about or where to find it.

He is always moaning about European festivals because not headlining means endless compromises which Mr control freak is not happy about.

Also did you see the part 2 to that video which is funnier and is TR moaning on the tour bus and then Josh Freese charges in and starts rambling about king Kong or some film or other?
    EDIT found the link

Haha he meant to say incompetence and said incompetent instead and said fuck it and bailed. I never caught that before.

Lol I forgot to mention the second part of that video, I love when Josh Freese walks in and gets so excited talking about King Kong and Trent just ignores him and keeps ranting, WorzelG, thanks for reminding me!

Yes, it's actually one of my favorite tracks as well.

I don't really know that many people in real life I can discuss NIN with, but for the ones that I can chat about NIN with, at the very least they found it to be way too short, or they also just skipped it due to being among their least favorite songs from TDS. I also haven't met that person either now that you've mentioned it.

It's 50% a NIN question, so I post it here, as I am too lazy to search for a headphones thread.

So, I bought a new set of headphones, actually my first proper headphones, so a round of applause everyone, thank you, thank you. My problem is, however, that while some songs (in general, not talking about just nin) blow me the fuck away instantly, some sounds rather lackluster.

Here's The Collector for example. WT being my favorite NIN record of course I was eager to give it a go with my new headphones, so I started with The Collector, but after like 4 seconds I had to stop. The drums sound weak, and that is an instant no-no. Part of the reason I love that record so much, because it's a lengthy drum porn, with my 20$ earbuds The Collector's beginning usually rip my head off. Not now, though. Should I tweak some EQ settings? I have no idea which bar does what, but me no likey this setup with With Teeth.

    Love that cheeky red line.

Not sure about the bars, but when it comes to NIN, generally the first thing you want to do is turning that normalizer off (hangerőszint-kiegyenlítő for you and me). Are there any further options or presets?

Nah, just the ones you see: movies, music, games.

It's not a general problem though, the drums on Korn's newest record sound dope with these settings as well, but WT got much weaker.

Generally not a great idea to mess with the EQ settings since it's a record that's been mixed the way Trent intended it and you'll just mess up the sound if you EQ it yourself. The reason it sounds bad can be many, how long have you had the headphones? Maybe you just need to get used to them. Was your old pair some "mega bass boost" kind and these aren't? Then it takes a while to get used to the sound as it's meant to be. Maybe a link to the headphones you bought and it'll be easier to come up with the solution?

ATH m50x, bought it 2 days ago. I had ~20$ Philips earbuds, which is surprisingly decent, especially for its cost. Nothing audiophile about it, but sounds good with every genre.

Well these headphones really doesn't need any EQing done. If you used the same audio source with these and the 20$ philips I think you just need to get used to them. Earbuds and cans are of course also different and maybe requires time if you're used to one of them. If the sound is bad you have to blame mr. Reznor
