does anyone have an archive of blog-posts, which trent posted years ago in the spiral blog? the blog which was only visible to the spiral members?
i'd love to see his "minor" updates. i think he posted when he leaked Closure to the pirate bay or also when mixing Year Zero was finished or things like that... would be fun to incorporate this info into ninwiki.

i remember reading them on an archive somewhere, well after it was shut down.

Nympholept had a lot of cool things, and I remember he had uploaded all of the Spiral-exclusive photos, but his old Mediafire folder is down (don't know whether he deleted it himself or if the host did). Bwary's site has the Spiral site archive, though: http://www.portraitofdecay.com/index2

Mediafire file isn't down, mediafire simply changed how links work and so you can't direct link to the root folder anymore

I'm glad Bwary did that. I made a downloadable backup of all of the Spiral exclusive media that I released to the NIN news LiveJournal once the Spiral closed down. Unfortunately since Nymph and I didn't get along very well though, so I was blocked from the LJ soon after and all of my posts deleted. So, I don't have the backup anymore. Glad someone does.

thx guys!! i'll look through this and maybe work it into ninwiki @sheepdean: i sent you an email via ninwiki about ninwiki stuff i edited/added/removed. did you get it? if not: would be cool to talk about some stuff. right now i'm motivated to add stuff to the wiki @all: i have a question. what is the story behind the "a warm place" version featuring "henry rollins"? there is a spoken word version where basically henry rollins is speaking and as a background the "a warm place" instrumental is used. this new edit then is called "i know you". i'd like to know if this is some (un)official thing or what? here it's on youtube:

Yup, unofficial. Henry Rollins does spoken word stuff, NIN does instrumental stuff. Someone put the two together.

ah ok. would have been nice if they had made this as some sort of collaboration. anyway it sounds nice

@ the nin.com-archive matter from above: is this bwary guy (he did http://www.portraitofdecay.com/index2) available somewhere? any contact info?

btw: i also found the following page as a resource for trent's spiral blog: http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/the_spiral-tr_blog.html

maybe we should split the posts about nin.com-archival to a separate thread? i plan on doing some work on this. at least i want to reconstruct (minor) posts trent did over the years to tease the fans or to update us on some progress...

EDIT: okay, as of now i also have all posts of trent over at the spiral (2005/2006/2007). trent's update-outlet before that was nin.com/current/index.html (e.g.: http://web.archive.org/web/200406230...ent/index.html) which coveres his updates from 5th may 2004 on. so my main question is: what was his main news-outlet before that? i guess it was the so called nin.com/dboard or nin:access-board. it gets tricky here i guess does anyone have an archive of the messages trent posted on this board??

Bought an HDTV and a Bluray player over the Black Friday-ish period. Only just now getting to actually watching a disc. First one up is the pressed version of The Gift.

    It's. Fucking. Tits.

do you mean these from the 2004-2005 nin.com-access section (has nothing to do with the spiral)?
    http://www.ninwiki.com/Access

or these, which are "responses from trent" from the spiral:
    http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/tr_post-27_09_2006-03.html
    http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/tr_post-27_09_2006-04.html
    http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/tr_post-04_11_2006.html
    http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/tr_post-22_03_2007.html

i found them by browsing trents forum posts from the spiral board here:
    http://trent-reznor.narod.ru/the_spiral-forum.html

AND: as already pointed out above (http://www.echoingthesound.org/commu...2580#post12580) i'm really interested in something like an archive of messages by trent from the dboard, which was the pre-2004 nin.com-message board..

bwary was an ETS user previously, but regrettably it doesn't appear he's made his way to this incarnation just yet.

As mentioned above, all of The Spiral is archived. All media, trent's blog, rob's blog (click on friends in the nav to get to it), news, etc. I started archiving the forum posts for Trent and Rob. I have all the back up files, but never finished editing the html and stitching it together.
The Spiral can be seen here: http://www.portraitofdecay.com/www.nin-thespiral.com/ (leave the username / password fields blank and click the login button). So if you want to see how the blog looked, then go there.
For Trents blog on nin.com and for access covering 04 - 07, you can see true archives of it here http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.com/index2.html

I wanted to have a functional dboard archive, you can see what I was able to accomplish here: http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.com/index-f.html some other html files for dboard, have found other sites that quoted trent's posts, and I have some web graphics for the rooms, but it's not enough to rebuild it without additional info, files. I needed some good screen shots and wasn't very successful.

All of this and much more can be navigated to from my index pages, ya just have to click and dig around a bit.

Thanks bwary - so the "you need a valid pass" page is the furtherestest we're able to dig? Have never seen any of TR's posts on that old, old, old forum before. Very interested!

Here are some of the web graphics I have for the board:

    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...ard2-title.jpg
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...ard3-title.jpg

    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c.../popupbg04.jpg
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...rd4-reload.gif
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...rd4-search.gif

These are the screenshots I was able to scour from hours of digging on fan sites:
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...34e70ae2_o.jpg
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c..._room_icon.jpg

    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c...s/ninboard.jpg
    http://www.portraitofdecay.com/nin.c.../trentpost.jpg

It's been over a year since I worked on any of my archives. Pretty sure I have a text file with a few of the verified Trent posts on the dboard. And IIRC, there was an issue with others creating accounts to appear as Trent who posted bs. I never saw the board myself. I have a huge migraine right now, so I'm not going to search it out in the thousands of files I have. For the dboard, what I have reconstructed is: HTML files from the internet archive (and then recreated others using those as source model). There were a few graphics available on the internet archive, but was able to grab most of the missing ones from halo99 since I knew what to look for.
My headache is making it hard to concentrate, sorry if this is a bit cryptic or whatever.

this is not cryptic. this is just awesome. i'd be really interested in the text file you mentioned, which includes verified trent-posts. but hey, get well first! and maybe we can talk later again. thx for all your effort and (apparently) many hours (100+?) of work you did there.

EDIT: e.g. it would be awesome to have an archive of the ETS thread which is shown in the result of this google search: http://www.google.at/search?q="I+noticed+a+post+from+Trent+saying"&ie=u tf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:defficial&client=firefox-a
the clean ETS url would be: http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbb...pic.php?t=1673
i already tried the wayback-machine, but had no luck.

    EDIT2:
    also, check this: http://web.archive.org/web/200802211....org/archives/

I'm assuming you've got BYIT as well? Amazing disc, both visually and sonically. If you're setup for lossless audio, it's big-ass-titties.

I have The Gift on one screen and my assignment working on the other. This is the way to work...
edit: I swear I remember seeing a video of someone walking around the stage, where is that?

Is it a video of a guy walking around the stage pre-show as they set up? It's an Easter Egg on 'The Gift' DVD somewhere. I forget exactly where...

Nope, that was from a some random dude. We acquired his video through his vimeo account. It is definitely an easter egg somewhere on there.
