Sacred Bones Records & the Null Corporation will release a new version of John Carpenter‘s music from the horror classic Halloween by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The track will be released as a digital single this Friday, October 13. Visit Amazon to download the track and to listen to an audio sample. Sacred Bones will also release the album Anthology: Movie Themes 1974 – 1998, which features Carpenter’s classic themes from Assault on Precint 13, The Fog, The Thing, Escape from New York, Christine & others, newly recorded with the same collaborators that Carpenter worked with on his hit Lost Themes studio albums. This was an unexpected surprise. Seems like Trent is constantly in the studio these days.

Ok tried to preorder and it says ‘ your bank must be local to the amazon.com marketplace’ and won’t let me. Hope it’s not some US only thing. I’ll try again when it’s actually up, I’ve bought stuff from the us amazon before

Makes sense, but the sample is basically nothing, so you wouldn't be spoiling yourself. The first 10-15 seconds is just drone noise, hence the . Still, though, no reason to listen when you only have to wait less than a day!

Holy shit! Awesome!! I have a 2-hr flight tomorrow, so I think I’ll just keep it on a continuous loop once I’ve downloaded it.

Someone just shared a low quality version in the NIN Facebook group (a video of them playing it through their speakers). I'm not going to listen to it, but I will say I'm happy with the length of the video...

I wish the whole song was similar to the last 3 minutes. That last 3 minutes is so good.

A sequel film of John carpenter's Halloween is coming...
What if TR&AR were in charge of the whole score ?

I’d have to wear a condom for the duration of the viewing.

John Carpenter is actually for real returning to do the entire score.

This cover is insanely great. My favorite movie theme too, so this is extra fucking cool for me.

I found it to be pretty standard except for that last 3 minutes. Wish Trent would have been more adventurous with the WHOLE cover from start to end.

These sequels have a history of sucking. I'd rather Trent pick projects based on quality instead of what's popular.

Yeah, it was kind of like Manson’s cover of Personal Jesus, almost exactly the same as the original.

I disagree. I know Carpenter's original theme forwards and backwards, and Trent and Atticus' cover is definitely not "almost the same". Seriously, listen to the original (not any of the souped up versions out there) and tell me their version is "almost the same".
