    NIN-Spotting 2012

Am I the only one that's been seeing these an awful lot since the website's been down?

    Here's one: http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-cover-...-originals_p2/

Yesterday I was in my local giant HMV megastore, that is actually closing down it's location. Just poped in for a minute to see if there were any decent sales, and a guy that was walking around the same aisle as me had the 2010 re-issue of "Pretty Hate Machine" in his hand.

That counts as a spotting right?

I usually enjoy Cracked.com's posts...but that one was the most ridiculous thing I ever read.

TR/AR weren't nominated for a Grammy for TSN. ::snort::

New Grammy rules set off more grumbling

    latimesblogs.latimes.com

Veteran talent manager and former record executive Jim Guerinot, whose clients include Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, noted that Reznor won the Oscar for his score for the movie “The Social Network” but didn't make the Grammy nomination list.

“Today it was opening my paper and seeing that the guy who won the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for best score didn't even get nominated.… I don't know what they've done to improve the process” with this year's changes, Guerinot said. “The Grammys have led with their chin for 30 years, and they're not going to stop now. It's what they do.”

    Um...

"Leona Lewis is set to cover the Nine Inch Nails' 1994 track 'Hurt' on her forthcoming EP.
Famously covered in 2002 by Johnny Cash, Lewis will feature the song on 'Hurt: The EP', which is set for release on December 9. "

I know this article is extremely dated, but seriously?

No, it was never serious. It's funny. And really really old (pre-dates ETS) and has been discussed by ETS ad nauseum.

You're saying it was a joke review?

That's debatable. Brent DiCrescenzo may be a joke, but there wasn't really anything terribly funny about his reviews.

Okay, who stated this and where? I don't believe it's a joke, at all. Many of Pitchfork's reviews around that time were like this. They have improved incredibly in being fair, less snobby, and sensible, so it may look unbelievable next to their current reviews.

Yeah, I'm curious about the same thing. I wasn't around when the old ETS as going on so I wasn't aware that is was taken to b a joke. I didn't think Pitchfork would do that?

That was written when Pitchfork was trying to be Creem Magazine and Brent thought he was Lester Bangs (or maybe John Kordosh re his disdain for Rush). Pitchfork since changed directions, moved out of Chicago, and Brent hasn't worked for Pitchfork in many years.

This is a couple days old, and fairly insignificant, but TR+AR winning an oscar made the list for stories of the year on consequence of sound.

One baby on 10/10/10 and another that could potentially be on xmas. I think Trent has mastered the art of conception as well as music.

Also, nice to hear something from Karen O about that track, she seems to have been ignored of late.

The quotes in that story sound nothing like TR. It's as if the reporter filled in holes in her notes with stuff that she "remembered" him saying. Or something.

Trent said: "I thought, 'Yeah, let's have a go at covering Led Zep, then'" ...sure he did. In a thick Scottish brogue.
