Just a note: when you guys post a million of em at a time, it kinda loses the effectiveness. I'd say edit it down a bit.

Eh, I'm not editing mine down. If people don't feel like reading it all, they're free to scroll past it. These are the tracks that came to my mind based on the question posed.

i'll stick with some rap for now

classic way to end a 90's rap album was with a posse cut...this one featuring a very rare actual verse from Duck Down honcho Dru-Ha:

    it ain't over mothafuckas...

I don't think it's a matter of reading too much. I'm with bobbie here - if someone asks for your "top" something or other and you provide a list of like 50 different things, it loses its effectiveness. Top implies favorite, the best of the best, the select few that stand out above all the others. And yes, one could argue that out of the millions of albums in the world, several dozen is a "small" list. It's like someone asking what your favorite food is and you list everything you've eaten in the last year.

I'll play along with the rap stuff:

Great gut wrenching closing song that destills the concept of .

...told from the view of four people in the moment a nuclear strike hits them. Dark stuff, but a great ending to this album, which from the first song to this tells a story about life, ambition, family, success, loss, war and Hip Hop. This song is produced by EL-P of RTJ.

that involves a lot of storytelling about heists, dark magic, rap, the national guard, Tina Turner, funky rednecks, secret agens from China and whatnot. This song ends that album on a similar funny note, but adds a romantic touch.

Closer to a great album with songs about ancient gods from egypt or greece, depression, mafia gangsters, zombies, rap et al. The cover says it all, really. Pop culture references are strong in this one.

Oh shit yeah. Now we're talking.

    Mantra's Top Ten Third-to-Last Songs....

    01... Prince - "I Would Die 4 U" (this song is UNREAL)
02... DJ Shadow - "Midnight in a Perfect World" (goes without saying tbh)
03... Neil Young - "On The Beach"(in fact, the last three tracks on this album are LEGEND)
04... Grouper - "Wind and Snow" (probably one of the most heartbreaking songs in existence)
05... Smashing Pumpkins - "Behold! The Nightmare" (17 doesn't count as a real track in my book)
06... Kanye West - "Everything I Am" from Graduation (so beautiful!)
07... Nine Inch Nails - "And All That Could Have Been" (why the FUCK won't he play this live?)
08... Grimes - "Nightmusic" (this song is a BANGER)
09... D'Angelo - "Greatdayndamornin'/Booty" (the last two minutes are legit transcendental)
10... The Beatles - "Cry Baby Cry" (a fucking underrated classic imo)

I listen to a lot of music and have a lot of favorites, so while it may seem excessive to you guys, that's pretty normal to me. Also, the question was "What are your top album closers?", not "What are your top five, or ten, or twenty album closers?". I simply answered the question. I'm not worried about the "effectiveness" of my list. Like I said, people can skim past it if it's too exhausting to read.
