Hey guys - this is nothing more than a curious poll born of frustration over the absolute laughingstock that is our local internet choice. Where I l'm living (not a small rural area), we have literally two options for high speed internet.

$30/month: 12/0.5 down/up DSL (actual download speed on it is usually much lower during non-work hours)
$60/month: 60/5 cable

That's it. No other options, period. It's just left me very curious as to what the rest of the country has. Post your city if you want to, or don't. I'm mostly just interested to see what kinds of residential speeds exist and what it costs.

In Canada I lived in Calgary, Alberta for nearly 15 years and for the majority of that time we had 15mbps down and 1mbps up for $68/mo before taxes. Since moving to rural Ontario our only option for nearly a year was 6mbps down and less than 1mbps up, paid $45.95/mo before taxes.

We just got upgraded a couple months ago and had a fiber line installed, now we're 25mbps down and 10mbps up at $78.95/mo before taxes.
