Look, it's Mew-mew!

Apparently, the first trailer is coming out next week.

So else is excited to see Loki Thor again?

Love me some Thor... and Loki ... ... and Odin. Psyched for the first teaser this Tuesday! Really curious to see what Alan Taylor brings to the table! :)

Oh, and I hope Sif gets more love this time around!

I was pleasantly surprised and thought Thor was waaaay better than it had any right to be, largely due to a great cast and Kenneth Branagh classing-up the joint (even though he dropped the ball completely in directing the then-recent Oscar-winning Natalie Portman, who hot on the heels of her win was basically given nothing to do and somehow seemed like she was sleepwalking through the entire movie).

And as impressive as the conversion job was, I really hope they start filming these movies in proper 3D instead...Asgard looked AMAZING so I'm definitely anxious to see them take it up a notch. I know they're not going that route this time but I hope they at least take the time and spend the money to convert it even better than the last because as good as it was it was still pretty damned murky and flat when the action was almost anywhere else but Asgard.

Not sure I've ever seen anything by the new guy in the director's chair, but the returning and new cast members pretty much give me all the faith I need to get my ass back in the theater seats all over again for the sequel. Branagh did a more-than-adequate-enough job the first time around but still stumbled enough here and there that I don't mind someone else taking a shot at the sequel instead.

Also, it absolutely blows my mind that I'm as excited about a Thor sequel as I am -- or even at all -- considering I seriously never even gave the slightest fuck about him in the comics. Goddamn, these movies are kicking ass!

:)

Looks like my prayers may be answered in the form of a Thor-Jane-Sif love triangle (http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/176349-new-images-and-plot-details-from-thor-the-dark-world). I remember Branagh saying on the THOR commentary that Jaimie Alexander's part in the first movie was a little stripped down in favor of establishing some of the larger elements - happy to know Sif will have a more pivotal role this time around!

Things we learn from the trailer: the Bifrost has been repaired; Mjolnir is flying head first towards Thor but is turning to present its handle at the last second; at 1:24 something is falling to their knees and I don't know who that is; Thor has warned Loki he was going to kill him in case of betrayal. Loki's answer: "Bitch, please".

Overall, it looks so BADASS it hurts!

Also: 30 images from the trailer (http://collider.com/thor-2-images-tom-hiddleston) There's something for everyone in there.

But I really need to post this one (because of REASONS)

God bless Tom Hiddleston; only him can carry that look with such awesomeness.

orestes: not the ponytail, please! It would be as disastrous as Thor's helmet. There a reason why he's not wearing it in the MCU!

Deadpool

If they cat fight, I think it will be of the verbal-parrying variety, which I have no problem with. If Jane and Sif ever got physically violent, I could see Sif doing some serious damage (her being a demigod warrior and such).

Hiddleston is so awesome. You can tell how much he loves that character and how much respect he has for the fans. It looks like he's having as much fun as them. He's such a likable guy!

Also: has anyone else read the two Thor: the Dark World Prelude comic books? I have. They are telling what happened between Thor and The Avengers and they also show what happens when Thor arrives back on Asgard with Loki as a prisoner. Being published by Marvel (of course) they are canon and I suspect that while it is not necessary to have read them before TDW, they contain events that will have a major impact in the movie.

i found them to be barely impactful on me, and i felt like i wasted my $. remind me of the finer plot points again.

Possible spoilers for the movie?

There's been rumors for months now that a major character was going to die in TDW. My theory is that it's going to be Frigga. She's the only one whose death would deeply impact both Thor and Loki. As we see in the comics, it's her who found out that Loki is still alive, alerting the others of where he was. In the second book, she's the only one who welcomes Loki back in Asgard while Thor is blaming him for the deaths on Earth and while Odin makes it clear that Loki is no longer a son to him. Frigga is the only link Loki has with Asgard and her dying should sever all of his ties with his former family.

New trailer is coming during the week of August 4 and it's going to be the same one that was showed at Comic Con.

As long as you know what Loki did in the Avengers, that's all the setup you need.

On that note, my God, what a phenomenal movie. Fucking destroyed the first one.

Loki's "death" was unexpected and played off very well, and that ending scene with him on the throne - fuck, man. And the post-credits scene! The Collector was a great way to reveal that the Tesseract is just an Infinity Gem, and it really conveys how much Marvel is building up Thanos as the Big Bad. Avengers 3 is going to be a fucking monster.

Tons of action right from the start. The scenes on Earth at the beginning were kind of slow, but other than that the pace was great. And man, as minor as Frigga was in the first film, she was a boss right up until the end in this one. Alan Taylor did a great job of making me upset about her death.

This movie rocketed straight up into my top five. I'd place it just below Iron Man 3, which is below Iron Man and Avengers.

orestes
11-07-2013, 10:48 PM
Question: What was it Frigga said to Loki before she disappeared?

And yeah, ditto to everything you said in black @Final Destiny (http://www.echoingthesound.org/community/member.php?u=228). As he lay dying, I was silently crying and yet I kept saying, "Nope" to myself because if there's one thing comic book Loki has trained me is to not take anything he says or does at face value. Still, I think that's part of the reason why I love this character, and my god, Hiddleston is just perfect as a young Loki. When they revealed Loki on the throne, I shouted "son of a bitch!" out loud in the theater, shaking the arm rests in frustration. So if Loki is secretly ruling Asgard, then where the fuck is Odin?

Oh, and can I say just how gorgeous Malekith looked during the prologue, what with his high features and pale eyes.

Also, CAPTAIN!!!!!!!!

Definitely will be seeing again; hopefully I'll pick up greater details the second time around. Did anyone pay attention to the other realms? The only one I recognized was Muspelheim.

Eccleston did a damn good job as Malekith. He was consistently awesome and terrifying.

I'm not familiar with Norwegian, but it sounded more like a made-up language to me.

Saw it w/ the ol' EmOhEm tonight. We snagged some of the Thor Marathon posters since we went to IMAX screening. The story was a lot more cohesive than the first Thor so there was that. And the Cap America/Chris Evans bit was very worth it. Loki you are an asshole..

TRICKSTER God, everyone. Although Loki would probably write Trickster GOD.

I don't think for a second that Odin is dead. I think either Loki pushed him into the Odinsleep or he has him in a cell deep deep deep in the dungeons. Remember: Loki wants to prove to Odin that he's the right one for the throne. Another thing: in Thor, Loki was rightfully named as king of Asgard by Frigga (it was a deleted scene but it still counts). Thor himself has never been crowned and Loki, to the best of our knowledge, has never been removed as king since his reign was just temporary, until Odin woke up again, which he did, of course.

The question is why did Loki want the throne back so badly? Is it only to prove himself in the eyes of Odin (although I suspect Odin won't be pleased with how everything went down) or does it have something to do with Thanos coming? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

One of my favorite part was Selvig's reaction when he heard that Loki was dead. That was awesome. And also: "Darcy? Jane? Eric? Ian? Mew-Mew?"

I bet Chris Evans must have had a blast at imitating Loki since Tom Hiddleston can't stop imitating him.

This was definitely not what I was expecting, with such a title as "THE DARK WORLD :O," but it really did blow me away. Great development of Loki.

I couldn't stop thinking of Star Wars TIE fighters when I saw/heard the dark elves' ships. Anyone else find it humorous that at the beginning, the story started "many, many years ago" with an ancient battle where elves were fighting with laser blasters? PEW-PEW-PEW

Man, I enjoyed the hell out of this. For some reason it really exceeded my expectations and I love the first movie.

IMAX 3D was a blast - worth doing just for the sound. The IMAX canvas lent itself really well to the Thor universe. I missed the first 5 or 10 minutes of the movie (bummer but at least I have an excuse to see it again), so I didn't get to see if there was that Cap preview that's apparently in front of some screenings. Anyone catch it?

I could watch Thor, Loki, and Odin feud all day. The family stuff is what makes Thor my favorite Avenger. There was some killer action in this, but you can't beat the sibling drama. I have to admit that the humor was well-placed in this, too. There was a pretty quick jump from morbid to light around the middle, but overall it worked - the stuff with Selvig and Thor especially.

Even if Sif had her own movie, I still don't think I'd be satisfied, so of course I wanted more of her (I at least wish we got to see her duke it out w/ some of those guards). Still, I loved what little of her there was. Jaimie Alexander does a lot with a little, she's great. Malekith was pretty cool, though he had the unfortunate position of being in the same movie as Loki which made him uninteresting by comparison. Dammit if he didn't look amazing in the 3rd act though - amazing costume design and make-up.

Lastly, in the credits it said non-specifically "Thor Will Return", as opposed to "Thor Will Return in Avengers: Age of Ultron" - any bets on a Guardians of the Galaxy cameo?

Random thoughts after seeing it in IMAX 3D:

*I like how the movie opens and ends with a shot of Loki
*Jane super excited to travel through galaxies because SCIENCE
*God I love Darcy
*Seriously, fuck all the Darcy haters
*I like how fallen Asgardians become stars
*"Trust my rage."
*Am I going to go soft every time I watch Loki die? *sigh* Fine.
*Thor hanging Mjölnir on Jane's coat rack
*When the camera pans across Svartalfheim, there's a quick flash of green light before the camera stops on a random Asgardian soldier (the one who tells Odin of the body they found in the next scene). I didn't notice this flash the first time and if I had, then the ending wouldn't have been as effective, imo.
*The mid-credit scene that ties in to GOTG: So Volstagg and Sif hand over the Aether to the Collector because Asgard is already housing one piece of the Infinity Stones, the Tessaract. We can assume they are following Loki's orders, under the guise of Odin, then why would he hand over a vital piece of the Infinity Stones to Thanos?

We've been trolled folks! Although in that case, I think it's fair to say that we've been Loki'd.

Back in October, Empire Magazine had a collector issue about TDW and one of the special covers was this one:

http://getsomegrapesoda.com/wp-content/gallery/thor-2-the-dark-world-still-images-082313/empire-magazine-thor-the-dark-world-cover-loki-02.jpg

What is it? Why, it's just Loki sitting on Odin's throne. And what is this thing next to him on the left hand lower corner? Why, it's a breastplate of some sort; the kind of thing that would be very useful should someone be stabbed through the chest...

Anyway, listen to the podcast: http://www.empireonline.com/features/thor-the-dark-world-secrets-empire-spoiler-podcast-tom-hiddleston if just to hear Hiddleston's voice right in your ears.

Oh and where did Odin go? Well duh, to Tahiti (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/movienewsandreviews/news/?a=90066) of course. It's a magical place after all. But if you're still watching Agents of Shield, which I am, you know that the Son of Coul is starting to think that maybe Tahiti wasn't so magical after all.

It's easy for me to imagine Volstagg and Sif (and Thor) doing this on their own. After all, they helped organize a secret mission to break Loki free, right? Seems reasonable to assume that they might be on a secret mission to hand over the Aether - especially since Odin seemed fairly warmonger-y earlier in the film.

Went to this the other night and I'm pretty sure i slept through the epic battle scene. Horray expensive nap time. I think I'm gonna have to go see it again though as i really liked the rest of it and am pretty sure i missed a fair bit of stuff. I too echo the Loki sentiments dude plays it so well.

Just saw it last night. The Cap'n America prologue was great. Theme, action, comedy and acting were all pretty on point for me. The CG Asgaurd looks better then its 2011 counter part. I also liked how this movie really moved the Major MCU storyline along(unlike Iron Man 3), as well as being a good stand alone flick. I was hoping for more major character deaths, but I guess they're saving those for later.

Can anybody fill me in on the Second Post credit scene? I only got the first one with The Collector and the Infinity Stone.

What in the what what what? Deleted scene? Something pieced together from other sources?

Ask for a source, someone!

edit: and now I can't stop listening to it. Someone download that shit before it disappears so I can put it on repeat indefinitely! :P

edit2: I did some research (meaning that I clicked on tabs) and it's from the 2011 video game Thor God of Thunder. *sigh* Oh well...
