So I'm guessing this is gonna be an instrumental track.

I don't think we should've expected anything else. I thought maybe Josh Homme would sing on it, but I'm fine with whatever we get.

I finally had a chance to watch the whole thing, and for anyone who hasn't yet, I recommend it. It's a really great look at not only this one studio, but the evolution of engineering. Trent has a few other bits and pieces here and there, but none of them musical.

really glad this is not TR's day job. I'm sure it was fun to do, but it's not my kind of thing. sounds like it would fit in fine on rock radio. Dave Grohl's a great drummer (I'm a mediocre one), but his singing and songwriting have never done much for me. definitely has TR flavoring sprinkled in, but the meat and potatoes of it sound very Foo Fighters to me. Some folks might want this to be a band that does more stuff, and if they have fun doing it and people like it that'd be great, but I probably won't listen to much of it. everybody else digging it? not digging it?

Well, just keep in mind that they probably put this together in a matter of days, hours, even. That was the point of the album - to just have a bunch of fun, throw some good music together. It's certainly not meant to be groundbreaking music - Dave Grohl isn't necessarily a boundary pushing musician, just a really good one. Similarly, this song is good, a good blend of Foo and Trent, with some nice basswork and harmonizing by Josh Homme thrown in too. But it's not revolutionary shit, and that's fine for me.

I like it - the song definitely had influences from all three artists. I wish Homme sung Grohl's parts, though. Grohl is okay, but Josh's sultry voice could have livened up the beginning.

The final 3-minute NIN/QOTSA infusion was certainly the highlight!

I'd like to ask Trent whether this is better or worse than Tapeworm.

Seconded. Haha.

This song is fun in the context of watching the footage of all of them in a room playing and writing and as everyone has mentioned previously, certainly the last couple minutes of the song are the highlight but Dave Grohls voice and just the Foo Fighters in general do nothing for me anymore. I can certainly understand the love people have for him (especially a friend of mine who is obsessed with the guy) but his writing does seem very rock radio these days. I'm not really digging it that much either, it's a nice song that again I'm sure was fun for them to just sit around and do...but it's nothing I would constantly want to revisit. Anyway, it's not like they're trying to make a supergroup out of this. Dave just wanted some talented musicians to come together and write a little song and that's what we got.

Hearing this really does make me even more curious to hear what Tapeworm really would've been like....but alas, that time has passed now.

Really enjoyed it, for some reason expected it to be an instrumental, maybe cos there's no singing in the film. So was very surprised and pleased to hear TR's voice popping up here and there. I think the combo of all 3 worked well, though if someone had told me this was the Foo Fighters, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid.

I like it a little bit more in the documentary but the song as a whole is pretty great. I too wish that Trent and Josh would have been in the foreground with their vocals. Grohl is a little too present for my taste, but the song still rocks and I just love how you can hear every guy's trademark sound in the song and while being pretty different from each other they form a quite unique unity.

Together with cut me some slack and the song with BRMC, mantra is my favorite of the soundtrack!

I actually found that pretty boring to watch. If it had been edited to not be the full-length track (which obviously goes against the point of the video) then I probably would've got into it more. But, considering the song's eight minutes, the vocals really help make it. And the guitar, too.

But seriously, I'm pretty sure two full minutes of that video was the same thing over and over again because the vocals weren't there.

Yeah, I like the song, but this bare-bones version for 7 minutes is just too much.
