He's currently working on a new film, The Lords of Salem. Supposed to be his darkest work to date. Another film based off a song title, woopee!

I don't have much to say about his movies, as I've only seen Halloween, but when I saw him for the Hot As Hell show in Tulsa this summer, I had one HELL of a time. He's a really amazing performer - lots of fun, humor, fire, costumes, fire, big screens, great light show, and more fire. We managed to get within 5 feet of front row center, and we just gave up. It was outdoors, the heat was unbelievable, even at night, and security had stopped spraying the crowd with hoses (I presume to keep from damaging any equipment or spraying the band or anything). That was the second time I've ever had to leave the pit at a show, and it was easily one of my favorites. I'll be seeing him again next time he comes around.

We even drove next to what we later found out was his tour bus on the way there from Kansas. That was pretty cool.

I'd also like that but that's long gone. Though if he's more in the tune of things like Hellbilly Deluxe II we have more delicious, satanic and fucked up shit to hear.

Rob Zombie on next album: ‘Definitely our best record yet’.

http://robzombie.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/rzband20121-thumb.jpg (http://robzombie.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/rzband20121-thumb.jpg)Rob Zombie has been speaking about the forthcoming new album he and his band will be working on from June this year (http://robzombie.com/2012/03/new-zombie-album-production-starting-soon/). The as yet named album, will be the first studio album since Hellbilly Deluxe 2 (http://robzombie.com/music/hellbilly-deluxe-2/) annd will feature for the first time, the drumming of new band member Ginger Fish.
“It has been way, and I mean way too long without any new music. I am dying to get back to it,” he said. “I have not felt this much excitement within the band since recording the first ‘Hellbilly Deluxe’ record almost 15 years ago. We have been working on tons of songs for quite some time and I can safely say this will definitely be our best record yet.”
Production wil start on the album straight after the band finish a co-headlining tour with Megadeth (http://robzombie.com/2012/02/zombie-and-megadeth-announce-co-headlining-tour/), which will include appearances at Rock on the Range (http://robzombie.com/2012/02/rob-zombie-announced-to-co-headline-rock-on-the-range/) and Rocklahoma (http://robzombie.com/2012/02/rob-zombie-confirmed-for-rocklahoma-2012/). Says Rob of working with Megadeth again; “This tour should be a blast. I haven’t shared a bill with MEGADETH since way back in the early days of WHITE ZOMBIE, so this trek is long overdue.”
Zombie is currently in post-production on his next movie The Lords of Salem (http://robzombie.com/movies/the-lords-of-salem/). “I am enjoying taking my time finishing this film. I hate rushing things at this stage of the process, so it is a luxury to take it slow and really fine-tune every part of the production,”

I really liked Educated Horses, thought it a cool departure and new direction for RZ. But Hellbilly Deluxe 2 was largely a waste of time/same old same old.
Dragula is a kick-ass song though, can't deny that.

The first solo album was the beginning of the end. Astro-Creep:2000 is altogether so well executed, and although there are a handful of decent tracks on Hellbilly Deluxe, in retrospect it was all downhill from there. I say this coming from the angle of a guy who didn't listen to them when they'd come out, but for some reason, decided to check them out a few months ago. I played the shit out of White Zombie's last album, nonsense lyrics and all, but I couldn't get into anything else he did after that.

Haha, I actually think his movies are a lot better than he gets credit for. Remember he got into it late. He's a pretty talented guy. House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects are both pretty awesome movies IMO. Halloweens are ok, but for remakes when you comp[are them to other horror remakes they're done quite well IMO

who was it that said "more manson than manson" about his current lineup? lol

hellbilly was good but yep not quite as good as astro creep. he's had the odd track here and there since then. The track he did with charlie clouser & alice cooper is one of the best industrial rock songs ever, the 90s late night mtv vibe in a bottle

are there any WZ members in his band anymore? Why can't they just reform without him and just get some fat man to sing

You mean hands of Death (Burn, Baby Burn) and it is fucking great. His song from the Private Parts soundtrack was good too (Great American Nightmare).

Why? I think he's got the vision & performance nailed but RZ's voice isn't especially unique. I'm not entirely serious about it being a fat man specifically, I was just being flippant to emphasise how not a big deal replacing him would be

Not a massive fan of all that shredding stuff, but Vertigo by John 5 has a few good songs on it. "damaged" from songs for sanity is pretty cool as well, if you like 5 era MM and rob zombie, you'll probably like it.

I'm looking forward to the twins of evil show in london, but bloody hell both bands are playing very short sets from the look of things... Like 13 songs each :/ double headline should be longer

I will blatantly get right into it though

Hopefully they get their shit together. Too bad that sharing this tour 50/50 seems to be working out for everyone except a certain 'dopey clown'. Cut Manson off and get Zombie going all by himself. It's better that way. For everyone involved.

Fingers crossed that they make it here and that everyone gets a good show. It's not that it was a cheap ticket anyway.

The verses are fun, but the chorus is kind of lame (thanks for planting that Nickelback thought in my head. I totally hear it now and want to put a gun in my mouth).

Rob's never been William Shakespeare from a lyrical standpoint, so I'm sure the album will be exactly what I expect: fun music about monsters, crazies, fast cars, and loose women. He'll also say "yeeeeeeah" a lot. And I wouldn't want it any other way. Rob's like AC/DC. He's got a fun rock and roll formula and sound that works, so he sticks to the blueprint. I'm excited for the new album. I thought HD2 was a hoot and his best album in over a decade.

Rob Zombie's schtick has gotten stale. Educated Horses was a good departure: something different. This new single is the same old crap, but done worse.
I don't care if bands repeat themselves, at least do it well. This new single lacks everything a Rob Zombie song should have: a good groove, pounding industrial metal riffs, and a catchy chorus. This is the shell of Zombie.

For Record Store Day 2013, Zombie released a promotional single for "Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown" (with b-side "Teenage Nosferatu Pussy") on 10 inch colored vinyl printed on a reverse groove. This featured a slightly alternate edit of "Dead City Radio" clocking in at 3:54 instead of 3:28 which included an extended prechorus and outro not heard on the full album release. Best Buy stores offered a limited edition featuring a 3D sticker cover with a code for exclusive behind-the-scenes footage on the making of the album.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venomous_Rat_Regeneration_Vendor#cite_note-3)

Phil Buerstatte, who played drums for White Zombie between 1992 to1994, was found dead over the weekend in Wisconsin. No details have yet to be released of how he died. He was 44.
Buerstatte was a key member during the bands La Sexorcisto tour but never recorded anything with them. Before his White Zombie tenure, he played drums for Wisconsin groove prog metal band Last Crack from 1986 and stayed with them until 1997.
Paul Schluter, guitarist with Last Crack released the following statement:
“We are sorry to have to announce that Last Crack drummer and our musical brother Phil Buerstatte has passed away today. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, family and fellow band members. Pull out your Last Crack albums, crank them up loud and remember what a great drummer he was!
“It is the end of an era for us and sad to say the original lineup will never be able to play together again. Our last show with Phil from 2009 is posted on YouTube in its entirety. The remaining members of the band are discussing doing a tribute show in Phil’s honor in the coming months. We’ll post details soon.”
Strangely, the last time Buerstatte was in the headlines was last year, when a man was arrested for fraud for impersonating the drummer and trying to get out of paying for his re-hab treatment at the Alta Mira Recovery Center, a luxury facility in San Francisco.
The man, who used a $75,000 cheque in Buerstatte’s name to pay for the treatment had previously attempted this many times. Police at the time were trying to determine if in fact it was Buerstatte actually using an alias, but soon determined it was someone else pretending to be him.

I'm not going to lie and say I liked him and kept up with him after such a short time of the band, but still pretty bad 44 is still young. RIP.

Does anyone have this version as an mp3 by chance?

Going to the Sydney show. Not too fussed about Korn -

http://www.bigtopsydney.com/rzkorn.html

Rob zombie + korn
with mushroomhead
monday 24 february http://www.bigtopsydney.com/images/subpage1_74.jpgPresented by Soundwave.
In a night guaranteed to make fans salivate, Rob Zombie and koRn will take to the stage in Sydney with a feral, fiery and live ferocity that will be unmatchable!
A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. As a musician, Rob Zombiehas sold over fifteen million albums worldwide to date. Hellbilly Deluxe and Hellbilly Deluxe 2 were the albums that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group White Zombie. Rob Zombie released his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor in April 2013 to world - wide critical acclaim!
“There are plenty of yeah’s, hey’s and baby’s from Zombie himself as expected, but what wasn’t expected was some of his most infectious choruses to date; every single song screams for a sing-along, whether on your own at your laptop or in a crowd of thousands. White Trash Freaks in particular is hard to resist, and when Rock And Roll (In A Black Hole) explodes from the little electronic beat that it’s built around into that monstrous chorus it’s an instant energy booster” – Metal Obsession.
After the release of the bands eleventh studio album (The Paradigm Shift) in October 2013, roughly 35 million album sales worldwide, 2 Grammy’s and countless sold out shows, the godfathers of nu-metal, koRn have come a long way since their iconic self-titled debut and they haven't stopped challenging themselves or heavy music. The members of koRn built that kind of bond back in 1993 the first time that Jonathan Davis, James "Munky" Shaffer, Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, and Brian "Head" Welch decided to make music as a unit. They shed blood, sweat and tears in the studio and on stage, fashioning an undeniable, unsettling, and unique sound that would permanently alter the course of rock music!
“The Paradigm Shift is far from a radical change in the basic assumptions that fans make of their beloved nu-metal progenitors. Instead, on their eleventh studio album, Korn have managed to tap into what created those assumptions in the first place and dutifully deliver on every single one. If one were to listen to Follow the Leader before The Paradigm Shift, you’d scarcely notice a difference, and that’s a good thing” – Music Feeds

I'm going to the Melbourne show (as well as Soundwave of course). Can't fucking wait. Especially since i'm doing the meet and greet thing.

Can't wait to see Korn as well. I've heard they put on a great show. Really love their latest album too.

Looking forward to Placebo sideshow also, hoping for some more to be announced. Might have gone to Alice in Chains but it clashes with Placebo sadly :(

I read some reviews for these and they were all really positive about how the band did them, which is always a good sign.

I'm assuming Korn opens for Zombie? Is that what happens on the other Night of the Living Dreads shows?

From what I read, Korn plays first in Sydney (headlining), then Zombie comes on, and Zombie headlines in Melbourne, then Korn comes on.

You get this red headed promoter with braces let you know of what's going on and such. You go in and line up and they call out your name and give you your merch bag. Then the band come out and sit at a table and sign your stuff. You can bring in as much as you like; they say to limit it to 2 items, but people basically get everything they brought signed, so take it with a grain of salt. You go around once in a line, then once everything is signed you go around a second time and get your picture taken. Then you you all sit down/stand together as a group and they take a photo of everyone, then record a short video of everyone cheering, etc, to put on Rob's Instagram account.

The woman actually said we were one of the quietest, if not the quietest group of people she'd come across and it was freaking her out, lol.

I got Rob to sign my Blackacidevil cassette where he interviews Danzig. I asked him if he remembered doing it and he said no.

You get the photo emailed to you within 72 hours of the show.

Nah it was really good, it was just kinda impersonal because they were rushing through getting through people. Had to be at least 100 in there or so.

You can leave if you want as far as I recall. For us there was a cloak room right there. I didn't really care because I sat at the back seats. The novelty of mosh pits has worn off for me these days.

I'm so fucking ready for that.

The only thing that bothered me about the Zombie Horror Picture Show (and this is nitpicking that'll probably earn me some backlash) is the fact that it was filmed at Mayhem Fest, a "co-headlining festival" instead of a legit Zombie show, so there are only seventeen songs instead of twenty-some. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he finally put a DVD out and I love every second of it, but I just wish it had a longer set.

I'm also hoping that he eventually pulls a KISS and retroactively releases concerts from earlier in his career. I'd love to see shows from his other tours, especially with Blasko, Riggs and John Tempesta, and I'd really like to see one with Joey Jordison on drums (I only saw Zombie once, and it was with Joey).

I fucking second this. When the bands have their own songs written in ten different variations on official releases... Aghhrrh
The Love/song (The Cure), (A) Song for the Deaf/Dead (QOTSA), (A) Means to an End (Joy Division)... and pretty much every other song that has punctuation?!, specíàl characters, or (Part One/2/III) in their titles are the biggest offenders. Try tagging all the Larks' Tongues in Aspic parts right and not go insane.

While I don't enjoy his movies and I'm not a fan of his particular style either I somehow adore the live show, his attire and the music just for the heck of it. That was one crazy December night especially since I was invited to a cheesy Christmas dinner first and wore my red Christmas jumper to the show. I got bad looks all over the place, but also met awesome people who invited me for beer and got me two second row for the Zombie show. And dear lord, that was a mighty wicked night full of head banging, fist bumping and having a huuuuuge smile on my face because of the fun I had and the absurdity of everything. I was worried we would get a watered down show in Europe but he went all out with that one!

Watching the DVD right now and looking forward to aditional live tracks on the upcoming live album! I sooo want him to come back here as I thought I would never see him in the first place in Germany.

Yeah I know everyone says that. But it is our heaviest most fuck up musical monster to date. One song entitled "Well, Everybody's Fucking In a UFO" is sure to be an instant Zombie classic! Our man Zeuss did and awesome job producing and has helped us construct the perfect next step after Venomous Rat. Stay tuned for more details."

Rob talks about the new album delay. The album's finished, but he wants a good visual theme to go with it which he hasn't had a chance to get around to yet -

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/rob-zombie-explains-new-album-delay/

At the 2015 Loudwire Music Festival, Rob Zombie spoke to Loudwire about his next album, upcoming film projects and his "kill your idols" philosophy. You can watch the chat below.
On the subject of why his new studio CD has yet to see the light of day even though it was completed several months ago, Rob said: "I would like to put it out sooner than later, but I have this idea that I really wanna make a visual component that goes with the album, and I don't have time yet, 'cause I'm in the middle of editing my movie ['31']. So I didn't wanna just throw the record out there and there's no videos, there's no nothing, so I'm, like, I'd rather just hold it and do it properly. And so, that's really the only reason; I mean, it's nothing else. I mean, the record's done. Which is kind of nice, 'cause we recorded the record over a really long period of time — like, a year. But we weren't in the studio every day. We'd work for a couple of weeks and leave for a couple of months and come back, and it really gave you time to live with it. 'Cause one of the things you do sometimes, you just go into the studio and plow through a record, and at the end of it, you kind of go, 'That last track is kind of bullshit,' or, 'I wish we'd cut that part down.' But we were living with it for a long time, and it really… I think it made the record so much better."

Zombie also spoke about how the songwriting process works in his band. He said: "The way [guitarist John 5 and I] really do it is we'll just lay out really loose structures. We piece together something pretty raw, and then we'll let it sit. And then I'll usually do vocals over that. Because until you put the vocals in, it's really hard to know where it's going. You just don't know. 'Cause sometimes a riff that sounds super exciting is really difficult to sing over, and then something that sounds like nothing, once the vocal hook gets on there, is really catchy. So you really don't know where it's going. And once I get the vocals in there, then usually John will come back and then he'll add another layer where he'll then play guitars that go along with the vocals or accent things. So we kind of just keep bouncing back and forth."
Rob Zombie's new solo album was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with HATEBREED, ALL THAT REMAINS and SHADOWS FALL).
Asked by "Loudwire Nights" host Full Metal Jackie what makes him confident enough to say his upcoming album will be his strongest so far, Rob responded: "I hate talking about this stuff, because it sounds like absolute nonsense.
"When was the last time you ever interviewed anyone from any band ever and they told you this isn't their best album? It's a cliché thing, right? But I really felt with the last album, 'Venomous Rat', that somehow, you don't consciously think you're off the tracks and you're veering off — you're just making music and you're doing your thing. You don't see your life from the outside point of view that other people will view you in your music. But I felt like with 'Venomous Rat' that somehow we had gotten back on track; it actually felt that way. Like, 'Wow! This feels like it did years ago.'"
He continued: "This record is just continued further down that road where it feels like you're inspired. You don't feel like, 'Ah, God, we have to write some more songs.' Every song seems different and exciting; it seems like the old days."

Definitely agree, I haven't enjoyed a Rob Zombie album so much since 1998...
That's why I'm reining in my enthusiasm until I actually hear the thing. Just like with Manson's Pale Emperor, I really want to see if that creative surge is a one-off oddity, or an actual return to form. Obviously hoping for the latter.

Been blasting Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, my favourite Rob Zombie record. I like it more when he does more classic-rock/heavy metal type stuff instead of the electronic-based songs, and that album is just so fun. Educated Horses is very good in places, too, but I never got HillBilly Deluxe 2, I only enjoy Cease To Exist really, those processed vocals are awesome.

Anyway, I like the less-heavy/more psychedelic (if it can be called that) direction he took with Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, and it seems this record is going to be in the same vein and I can't wait for it. Having John 5 and Ginger Fish together probably changed things for the better, too, it genuinely sounds like everyone's been having more fun.

I remember when that album came out and everyone took a dump on it. It's also my favorite from his solo catalog. Ironically it has one of his shittiest songs in the catalog I think as well: The Scorpion Sleeps.

This setlist sucks. And they will always suck until he plays almost exclusively late White Zombie/first 2 Rob Zombie record material. Yes, I cannot stand the direction this dude went. Completely lost the script.

Lol that's what I was afraid of as far as crowds. I do agree my heart would rather see a White Zombie exclusive list but unfortunately that will never happen. Although with GNR and Smashing Pumpkins having reunions of sorts.... kind of makes me hopeful it could happen with this group.

People who dont like to be bothered by pits or any other crowd movement should stay towards the back or get seats or not go at all. Its a fucking hard rock/metal show and that energy is to be expected.

Exactly! Whats the whole point of going to a rock concert if you are just going to stand there like a tree!? Either go and jump/mosh/move a bit or just watch it on youtube and dont bother the people that go there to enjoy the energy with your moaning.

there's a big difference between people standing still & rocking out to themselves/normal crowd movement & the neanderthal push moshing bullshit that goes on at metal & now even butt rock & fucking dubstep shows. Call me a snob, but I am a hardcore kid at heart so moshing to me is two-stepping, stage dives, headwalks, circle pits & some of the karate stuff. This thing where drunk morons with bad b.o. run into each other nonstop for 90 minutes is lame as fuck and makes you look like a complete fool. It's also extremely dangerous when it's a big pit, but that's a whole different argument.

Not sure how I feel about the record. It's VERY short - barely 30 minutes. It's got some cool stuff going on, but it just seems like a few random song demos not fleshed out. It kind of goes too wacky at times. There's the classic J5 guitar riffs which get boring real fast. Feel like not the best money spent. It's almost as if Zombie released it as a joke.

That's interesting seeing as how he was saying he wants to phase out the WZ songs from his setlist cause "new fans don't even know White Zombie." I'm not sure what his motives are for doing the setlist but unless the original line up was doing it I can hardly be excited about it.

His motives? Riot Fest threw WAY more $ at him than he makes night to night on a regular tour or at one of the billion butt rock festivals he headlines throughout the midwest and south. That's his motive. The audience at Riot Fest has no interest for his solo bullshit.

I'd love to check this out b/c that Astro Creep material is so strong, but it does take alot out of it that it's not a White Zombie reunion.

I love both but anyone who thinks WZ is worse than RZ solo is whack. Astro-Creep 2000 can never be touched. I wish some days that WZ never called it quits. I LOVED the last few tracks WZ pumped out (like Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls and The One) and always wondered what would follow if they had kept at it.

Honestly, there people that think his solo stuff is "better"? I'm not going to begrudge anyone for liking Rob's solo stuff (it's pretty generic and watered down to me), but one has to be cray cray to think it's better than WZ's output- limited as it may be.

This 1000% It isn't that I don't appreciate a lot of the solo stuff.... it just doesn't make me groove the way WZ stuff does. I never find myself looking up guitar tabs to the solo stuff. I only ever crave wanting to learn the WZ songs cause they are just so much stronger.
