Didn't make it there last year due to poor planning and the night we were going there was a 3 hour line to get in, so by the time we got down there, and waited in that line it would have closed, so we scrapped that idea.

I went the previous year before they moved. Pretty good effort put into that house.

I'll probably be hosting a very mild Halloween themed video game night next weekend for a few close friends, nothing to nuts. But the real partying will be the weekend of the 26-27th.

Just bought all my pumpkins for Halloween. Going to carve a total at least 3 this year, and I cannot wait to start them. This year, I'm going a dragon, an alien chestburster, and my all time favorite, The Death Star. This will be my second atttempt at it, and I got a perfect, huge pumpkin for it.

Does anyone know of anything I could spray on them (fire retardant, please) to keep them from rotting? I would love to start carving them now, but I don't want to have rotten pumpkins in 2 weeks.

I'm going as Abraham Lincoln, but I'm going to have a bullet hole in my head and blood all over my face. Very PC.

I've got my house all Halloweeny, and I keep adding more stuff (just picked up an animatronic Frankenstein on clearance a few days ago). I think I dropped more money at Spirit this year than the last 10 years combined, and that's saying a lot. Spirit is like my own personal Bed Bath and Beyond.

Edit- fuck it, i was in a thrift store and saw a green jacket, and caved. Daria it is! It was a shame i couldn't find regular combat boots, but I found something similar enough. It's all a bit half-assed, considering the jacket has buttons and not a zipper, but whatever, I'm not that picky :P

This year I'll be dressed as the 10th Doctor! Very excited, I have just the right haircut and glasses to begin with, but I got a sonic screwdriver and I'm picking up my suit in a day or two.

Was a pretty hot day so I'm sitting out the back in my jocks, sinking beers. 5 girls seemed like 6 to 16 ran around all dressed up with bags for lollies. Had nothing to give, so had to send them off empty handed. Couldve been a cunt and gone in and grabbed sugar cubes, or rain checked for when I'm stoned and face deep in a bag of caramello koalas, but I told them to trick or something. They didn't.


Even though it's not really celebrated here, I feel like a party pooper :( Hopefully my state of undress frightened them at least.

The only part of Halloween that I enjoy is the candy, the Halloween theme baking / cooking shows on the Food network, and the little ones' trick or treat costumes. And maybe Fright Fest at Six Flags. Heh one year I had to go to my best friends' Halloween party, I wore jeans, boots, and I borrowed a toy holster and gun and a cowboy hat from my brother's leftover childhood toys. The simplest costume I've ever seen was a kid I knew in 6th grade; he put on his sister's bathing cap and went as a "deep sea monster."

I have no idea what to do! I'm strapped for a costume idea... I had an idea back in September but wrote it off as being to difficult to assemble (needed like 10 different things ordered online and alot of sewing, so I decided I didn't have the time, money or patience for a Halloween costume). Next, went to my local halloween costume store and found something that was overpriced, but thought would make a good alternative, so I settled, brought it home, tried it on, the materials were garbage, so i returned it. back to the drawing board...

I decided to just CHEAP out and buy a Slipknot mask on eBay, already havea jumpsuit laying around so whatever, cheap costume idea... mask arrive and was garbage quality, put it on and couldn't breathe at all, the material was not working well with my breathing... bad to the drawing board... went to another store found another costume, that once again I bought (wasn't much... like $35) brought home, was all 100% convinced it was the one, but it also covers my face too much and can't breath again... urgh... I cut a breathing hole in it, that actually works well for me to stick my nose out of to breath and doen't take away from the idea of the costume but... once again, not very breathable...

So I don't think I should risk dying over Halloween and should change my costume yet AGAIN! However, the Party I am attending is this Saturday and tomorro is Wednesday and I have no ideas left.... urgh!!!!

I'm considering REALLY cheaping out and ripping off a piece of coloured fabric for an eye bandana and be a Ninja Turtle, that's really ghetto though, hahaha...
urgh, tomorrow is last chance halloween costume shopping or i'll have to risk wearing one of the non breathable costumes...

My Mom and I considered giving out old black-and-white photos we didn't want anymore instead of candy. On the backs of the photos, she wrote things like "7 days" and "ghost children". On the backs of a couple photos of children, she wrote, "abandoned" and "gone", which was genuinely a little creepy.

We were originally only going to give those only to older kids/teens, but we didn't really have anything else to give to the little kids. Didn't have any suitable candy, either (didn't have time to go out and get some). So, we didn't end up doing it...but we sure had a good laugh toying with the idea. :p I can imagine some people/kids would actually be kinda freaked out when they spilled their candy buckets/bags out and saw some random photograph among the contents.

Her Bday isn't even til November... should have held off for next weekend for less competition. I'm probably not even going to dress up. Too much effort, especially when I work all day.

Yeah, we have a bucket of crap marked Halloween stuff. Might need to sift though it to see what I can find... or maybe scower the damp corners of Value Village on Friday (my day off). The problem with Halloween is, I always figure out what I want to be literally the week before Halloween happens and then there just isn't enough time to put it together, or everything is picked over. It happens year after year. Happened again the other day had a total epiphany one dark and creepy 2am night I was just like "I know what I want to be now!" and then the fact it was less than 5 days til Halloween sunk in and I waited too long.

I really should just get what I need after Halloween and be prepared for next year.

Uh, the states has a pretty strong tradition of it at this point. Kids don't go trick or treating here and it's not really fun for me to just walk around in a witch costume when everyone else is just going about their daily lives. If only I still had my vampire teeth. I can't even find a place to buy any this stuff easily, like I could in the states. Like I said, once I make friends, I'd throw my own Halloween party and bring that back into my life. Until then, a party with just me isn't very fun.

That said, I plan on watching some scary movies. There's a cultural center that has been showing classic horror movies for free, but I'm not in that city, unfortunately.

We got EIGHT bags of Reeses and KitKats and handed out pretty much all of it during the 3 hours of begging at my mom's 5-story condo building. Omg, so many cute costumes. And Tony the head of Security was walking around as Michael Myers and not talking to anybody and threatening to stab people, but his cute little daughter (dressed as somebody from the 50s, with a poodle skirt) finally knew it was her Daddy (but didn't out him). I had no idea until "Michael" finally said, "don't you know who I am?" under that mask and I recognized his VOICE! "Tony!! omg!!!" Even his own daughter wasn't sure for a while. He was creeping the crap out of everybody, while G was inside watching "Halloween II."

My Mom: "Omg, somebody call Security! Oh ... wait."

i was Vincent Price. i was originally going to be James March (Evan Peters' character from this season of AHS, and my wife was going to be Hypodermic Sally, Sarah Paulson's character, but her hair got messed up and she ended up not coming with me, so i just said i was Vincent Price but i didn't actually have to change anything about my costume).

anyway, if i were in such a situation, i would obtain small treats and give them out and tell everyone (neighbors and the like) about halloween in america. then friends would be made, bread would be broken and everyone is happy. fucking shit. so what if nobody is celebrating? if you love something, you share it. even with strangers. so maybe they can partake and ask questions, etc...

It was so crowded this year since they moved it to Carlton Hill, huge crowd so I ended up leaving early. But since it wasn't directly in the city center they were allowed to be much more liberal with the fire than last year.
